A Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) occurs when there is a problem with the heart’s electrical activity.
Although a Sudden Cardiac Arrest may be triggered by a heart attack, the causes are very different.
A heart attack is when the blood supply to the heart muscle is cut off. This is often caused by a clot in one of the main coronary arteries.
Victims of a Sudden Cardiac Arrest are more often than not found unconscious however a heart attack victim will be concious and be displaying a variety of symptoms like discomfort and pain or breathlessness and rapid pulse.
